Q. The Northern Ball is the biggest travel trade party of the year. Tell us why you’re involved as a headline sponsor. A. We are involved because at Liverpool John Lennon Airport we know the importance of a great working relationship between regional airports and the trade. It’s so important to work together and communicate effectively. This is an opportunity to say a massive thank you to all our agents that give us incredible support. We are so grateful and want to show them that in the best way we can!

With just three weeks to go to this year’s Travel Weekly Northern Ball, we catch up with Ashley Louise Morgan from headline sponsor Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Q. What are the big developments for you as a business at the moment? A. Last year was the airport’s busiest year since 2012 with an 8% increase in passenger numbers compared with 2014. Over the past 18 months, we have secured flights from six new airlines, announced 15 new services to 13 new destinations, bringing more than 90 additional flights per week. Improved access, afforded by the airport, helps to give the city region the competitive edge over many rival cities. It has helped businesses connect to overseas markets, brought more tourists, boosted the visitor economy, and made the city region a more attractive option for inward investment. The airport has been spending a lot of time promoting these new services to the public and the local travel trade.
