SANDALS
AMBASSADOR FOR ISLAND- HOPPING
I could scarcely conceal my delight at being one of just six Sandals Ambassadors in the UK! Sandals is a product that has been close to my heart for all my years in travel and I’ve been lucky enough to visit nearly all 18 Sandals and Beaches Properties. The VIP trip to Beaches on Turks & Caicos, with a stop-off at the stunning Sandals resort in Antigua was the icing on the cake, having been picked as an ambassador for the brand. Beaches Turks & Caicos certainly lives up
to its name, with an incredible 12-mile stretch of white beach (it’s said to be one of the top four beaches in the world) and the best diving in the Caribbean, in its crystal clear, turquoise- blue waters. Whether you’re travelling as a family, group or as a couple, you could never tire of the range of activities on offer. There’s the huge Pirates Islands Waterpark, complete with lazy river, surf stimulator and water slides and the partnership with Sesame Street means
characters take part in parades and visit guests during breakfast. Not even adults will be able to resist unleashing their inner child. This five-star property is set out in four villages: Caribbean, French, Italian and Key West. All offer different room types including Luxury, Concierge and Butler. The clever layout of the resort gives a feeling of space, but with access to all amenities close at hand. Foodies are in for a treat: dining options
cater to every taste from beachside takeaway at the Jerk Shack and traditional British fare at the English Pub to à la carte dining at the Rooftop Restaurant. I must confess to sneaking off to Bobby Dees Diner, (really aimed at younger visitors) to enjoy the odd burger and fries. Next, a short hop from Turks & Caicos to Sandals Grande Antigua. This resort offers beautiful beaches, 11 restaurants and friendly, attentive staff to take care of all your needs. With British Airways now flying direct to
Turks & Caicos twice a week (Thursday and Sundays), with a brief stopover in Antigua, island-hopping is popular for those looking to experience the best of two Caribbean islands. I will definitely be recommending customers enjoy all the fun and action in Turks & Caicos before some relaxation at tranquil Sandals Antigua, ahead of a direct flight home. British Airways also did us proud on the fam trip. I experienced the delights of Business Class, which I would recommend to anyone able to stretch their budget.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
I have built extensive brand knowledge through study, fam trips and taking my own holidays at Sandals properties. I would recommend colleagues and peers to do the same: your customers will thank you and there are great personal rewards. I’ll be blogging regularly, detailing my experiences at each of the beautiful resorts and offering insider tips to help travellers make the most of their Sandals stay. New content will be added to our
website with a special focus on multi- centre and island-hopping holidays. As a US, Canada and long haul specialist, I’ll use my experience to hand-pick and package exciting and value-driven holidays to Travel Club Elite customers. This high level of personalisation will be continued with a leaflet drop to our family database, with customers receiving a postcard from me directly, with a friendly recommendation on why they should book a Beaches holiday. I look forward to living up to my title of Sandals Ambassador and continuing to grow Sandals & Beaches sales, especially multi-centre holidays.
