Titan unveils lower-priced Essential Collection range

Amie Keeley amie.keeley@travelweekly.co.uk

Titan Travel is launching a range of lower-cost holidays as part of its 2017 programme.

The Essential Collection features in the operator’s new Titan Worldwide brochure, out this week. Twelve new escorted tours are included initially, with more to be added in the coming months. Destinations include the US, Canada, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma, Sri Lanka, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. Managing director Andy

Squirrell said: “Titan has never been the cheapest because we include a lot in our tours which are very comprehensive. “But as more people come into

escorted touring it made sense to open up to a broader market. “These are shorter-duration

holidays with fewer inclusions but still with all the key highlights.”

Malta Tourism champions hotel revamps to push shoulder seasons

The Malta Tourism Authority has highlighted a range of hotel extensions and refurbishments as it focuses on sales for the shoulder and winter seasons. Figures from industry analyst GfK show bookings

for Malta up 29% year on year for winter 2016-17, with bookings for this summer in line with the wider market at about 6% up.

“As more people come into escorted touring, it made sense to open up to a broader market”

VALUE: Essential Collection tours feature in Titan Worldwide 2017

The tours include flights, guides

and excursions but do not include home pick-up or airport meet and greet services. Squirrell said the company

had received positive feedback from agents about offering Titan products at a lower price point. “This isn’t to detract from our

month after exclusively chartering Serenade 1. Setting sail in March, the 136-passenger ship will operate on the Rhine and Danube. Over the next month the company will be offering training on its Essential Collection range and sending posters to agencies. A 12-day Essential Burma tour leads in at £1,999, compared with £3,249 for a 17-day Best of Burma tour from Titan’s main programme. A dedicated Essential Collection

brochure is due out in September. titantravel.co.uk

Landmark properties including the InterContinental in St Julian’s and The Phoenicia in Valletta are currently being refurbished, while the Hilton in St Julian’s has also recently completed an overhaul. Peter Vella, UK director of the MTA, said: “The

availability of beds and airlift for the summer means we are largely full over the peak period, but there is a great opportunity to sell the shoulder seasons and winter. “There is a lot going on year-round and Malta is

increasingly popular with younger travellers drawn by our music festivals, as well as customers looking to dive,

take part in sports or visit Valletta for a city break.” visitmalta.com
