K

eeping abreast of the latest trends in the $8 billion industry is no small undertaking, yet SPREE RECon is designed for attendees to do just that. To

be held May 22-24 in Las Vegas, the industry tradeshow, which is free to attend, brings professionals of all stripes together—specialty retailers, mall representatives, leasing managers, vendors of exciting new common area concepts, service providers and cart and kiosk manufacturers. This year’s edition will be held in concert with RECon, the global retail real estate convention. “If you’re looking to forge new paths in an industry that is

thriving beyond all measure, you simply have to be here and attend SPREE RECon,” said Patricia Norins, Vice President, Publishing and Specialty Retail for ICSC. The tradeshow floor will include representation from

a variety of industry products and services and specialty retailers can expect to find both exciting new concepts and new locations for their business. The show offerings are complemented by a healthy suite of seminars and learning sessions tailored both to specialty retailers and leasing managers. These talks are designed keeping both new entrants to the industry and long-time professionals in mind. Specialty retailers who are just starting out can learn

from the checklist of basics in Specialty Retail 1.0, while the growth of food and drink as a way of increasing dwell time metrics in malls has lead to the formulation of “Food and

Beverage Trends in Specialty Retail.” Leasing managers can sharpen their skills with “Reposition Your Specialty Leasing Program” and they can discover new social media strategies as part of this set of sessions. A separate paid professional development day on May 21 will be targeted at specialty leasing managers who are looking for a complete continuing education program to stay abreast of evolving trends in the industry. Attendees can wind down at special evening networking

events designed to facilitate growth opportunities for all. SPREE RECon’s cocktail reception is to be held on Monday, May 22 at the Wynn Hotel. The cocktail event will also serve as center stage for the presentation of the Hall of Fame achievement awards that recognize leading professionals in the industry. “SPREE RECon is invaluable to make new connections

and learn from the leading lights in the field, you just might find the one winning idea to take your business to the next level here,” Norins said, adding that attending SPREE RECon was especially important at a time when retail is evolving at a rapid pace because of technological advances. “Plus we make it free and fun to attend, what could be better!”
