Airports are leasing kiosk space to teach passengers who have time on their hands, how to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The freestanding electronic kiosk is an interactive concept available from The American Heart Association. Passengers can get a hands-on lesson in CPR and perform it on a rubber torso. It teaches and encourages others to share their learning and save lives. Compressions to the chest are sounded out to the memorable song from the Bee Gees, Stayin’ Alive, immortalized in Saturday Night Fever. These kiosks have been installed in many airports including Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Chicago, Las Vegas and Indianapolis. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and survival often depends on someone knowing CPR right when cardiac arrests happens. Watch for these kiosks coming to additional airports and high-traffic shopping centers.
