Country Club gets impressive upgrade

The China Fleet Country Club is undergoing a multi- million pound upgrade, including the completed contemporary look of both the Health Club and hotel reception areas. Managing Director Dean Bennett explained

that first impressions at the club are very important and it was felt that creating a welcoming and relaxed environment for members and guests was a much- needed asset. The new improvements bring the

reception areas to a much higher standard and reflect the investments made to the rest of the club, including the recent refurbishment of the Brasserie, which was refurbished in partnership with St Austell Brewery, a project that has seen the introduction of an ice cream and waffle bar for children to enjoy and an excellent selection of beers and ales. The lounge bar and Upper Deck Bistro has also had a complete makeover. "We needed to do something to exceed customer

expectations," said Dean. He also explained that a strategic decision was taken more than four years ago to heavily invest in the facilities. This was after £1m had already been spent on

turning old badminton courts into conference rooms. Dean added: "Customer expectations are high, they

are constantly looking for new experiences and we have to try to exceed those expectations wherever possible." In early 2014, a £450,000 Aqua Spa was opened, with upgraded ladies and men’s wet changing rooms.

The plan is for all accommodation to have been upgraded by 2018. Cash has also been splashed ‘behind the scenes’ including £250,000 on a new irrigation system for the golf course, £150,000 on a new air conditioning system for the swimming pool and £60,000 on an energy efficient boiler. In 2017, £50,000 will be spent

on refurbishment of the pool.
