THE DALI MUSEUM One Dali Boulevard 727-823-3767 www.thedali.org; @TheDaliMuseum #TheDali

Designed by architect Yann Weymouth of HOK, the Dali Museum combines the rational with the fantastical: a simple rectangle with 18-inch-thick hurricane-proof walls out of which erupts a large geodesic glass bubble known as the enigma providing a kaleidoscopic view of St. Petersburg. The enigma, comprised of 1,062 triangular pieces of glass, stands 75 feet at its tallest point, a 21st Century homage to the dome that adorns Dali’s museum in Spain. Inside, the Dali houses a helical staircase resembling a strand of DNA. The helix was recognized by Dali as evidence of the divine in nature. The Dali Mathematical Garden creates a unique environment

of learning and tranquility, allowing students to experience the relationship between math and nature. A labyrinth in the southeast corner invites exploration and well-being. Named the top-rated museum in the American South by the Michelin Guide, the Dali features one of the most acclaimed

collections of a single modern artist in the world. It houses more than 2,000 pieces of art by Dali, including 96 oil paintings and eight of the artist's renowned Master Works—paintings that measure more than five feet. The museum’s Café Gala, named

in honor of Dali’s wife, is a casual eatery that introduces visitors to Spanish food and history. You can eat inside or out on the Avant-Garden patio, making a visit to Café Gala a destination in itself—a museum ticket is not required. Likewise, the museum

store, stocked with Dali-inspired gifts, books, jewelry and home accessories, is admission-free. From December 17, 2016 thru April 17, 2017, Frida Kahlo

at The Dali showcases the extraordinary career and life of the acclaimed 20th Century artist, whose dreamlike work suggests that love and suffering create a new sense of beauty. More than 60 Kahlo pieces are on display, including 15 paintings, seven drawings and numerous personal photographs from the celebrated female artist and influential icon. Hours: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday (open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays; and 12-5:30 p.m., Sundays.
