Drug dealer had a ‘stun gun’ phone
A DRUG dealer has been jailed after cocaine, cannabis and a stun gun disguised as a mobile phone were seized by police in East Malling. Colin Arnoldwas arrested after a search war- rant was exe- cuted in April at an address he been stay- ing at in Ruskin Close. Police seized five grams of cocaine,
which had been divided into deal bags, and more than 30 bags of herbal cannabis. The search also uncovered what appeared to be a mobile phone, which when tested,was confirmed by a police firearms expert to be a potentially lethal stun device. Arnold (56), formerly of Holling-
worth Road, Maidstone, told offi- cers all the drugs seized were for personal use, claiming he was ad- dicted to cocaine. He said he had bought the stun device from some- one and claimed he thought it was
simply an old iPhone which also worked as a torch. Appearing at Maidstone Crown
Court Arnold pleaded guilty to the possession of a disguised firearm but denied charges of possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply. Following a trial he was convicted by a jury of these of- fences.
Arnold was sentenced to a total
of five years and two months. He received three years for the drug of- fences and a further two years for possessing a disguised firearm. Two months were added for also breaching a previous suspended sentenced. Detective Constable Scott Ennals
said: “Arnold was dealing in Class Adrugs andwas also in possession of a weapon capable of releasing thousands of potentially fatal volts. “The fact that Arnold has also breached a suspended sentence when he was arrested shows how little regard he has for the law. The prison sentence he has now re- ceived is a substantial one and one which reflects the seriousness of these offences.”

News Festive treats for RSPCA pets
THE pets cared for at the RSPCA’s Leybourne Animal Centre got a special Christmas this year after they were inundated with toys and treats from members of the public. Special thanks
went to Michelle Davison (pictured), whose family saved up all year to give presents to the animals. The centre’s Facebook page said: “Our animals have been well and truly spoilt and we can’t thank you all formaking such a tough experience for them so much more bearable.” An RSPCA spokesman said: “The staff have been overwhelmed with people’s generosity. With the cold snap, they are now in need of donations of blankets and bedding to help keep the animals warm.”
