Tip: Small frequent snacks can help avoid a low blood-sugar level. Eat something bland like dry toast or a biscuit before you even get out of bed.
Week 5
Baby: Embryo around 1.5-2mm in length and major organs beginning to form.
You: You may have begun to experience overwhelming tiredness.
Week 1
Baby: One of your two ovaries is deciding which of the developing eggs will be the one to go forward with.
You: Your uterus is growing more lining (endometrium) to replace the one that just leſt as your last period.
Tip: If you haven't already done so, start taking folic acid. Week 2
Baby: Your 'dominant' egg is now waiting in the fallopian tube, waiting for sperm.
You: Your endometrium is still growing like mad!
Tip: If you have a busy, stressful life, now's the time to calm things down!
Week 3
Baby: With the egg fertilised, the cells arrive in the uterus and embed themselves in your endometrium.
You:Nothing you can do this week - just nature taking its course!
Tip: If you fancy a relaxing aromatherapy session, remember to source a qualified aromatherapist. Some oils are not recommended even for burning to scent a room while you're pregnant!
Week 4
Baby:A dark line appears down back of embryo, marking the position of the spinal cord.
You: You may start to
experience some of classic pregnancy symptoms: nausea, dizziness and breast tenderness.
You: As a result of hormones, you may feel dizzy or light-headed. Your face may also break out in spots!
Tip:Take the opportunity to rest as and when you can. A short daytime sleep can restore you like nothing else, but limit it to 20 minutes maximum. Any longer and you'll go into a deep sleep, which will leave you feeling groggy and exhausted when you waken.
Week 6
Baby: Your baby will look like a tadpole. Te head, body and limb buds will all be formed.
You: Smell of coffee making you retch? Welcome to the joys of morning sickness!
Tip:Ginger tea can help abate the worst of morning sickness. Infuse one or two teaspoons of grated fresh ginger in a small teapot of boiling water for five minutes. Strain and add honey or a squeeze of lemon to taste.
Week 7
Baby:Te arms and legs will have grown. Brain and spinal cord fast developing and other organs all in place.
