Te fall season is slowly coming to an end and winter is

just around the corner. Now while the weather is still in our favour make sure you spend a little time preparing your RV. Here are a few things to help keep your RV in the best condition possible during the cold of winter. If you have a slide, spray on some slide

seal conditioner. Tat way when you open your slide in spring the seal won’t “stick” to the side of your RV. Don’t forget to apply slide drive lubricant. Tis will help to protect against any corrosion on the drive gears and drive rails. Protect-All & Camco have great protection products. Air conditioner covers are a must to

keep any snow and rain from getting inside the A/C possibly causing damage. If the drain holes in the roof top pan of the A/C become blocked and the water cannot escape, that water could end up getting inside the interior ceiling assembly then draining out into the interior of your RV. Be sure to know the manufacturer brand of your A/C. Tere are different sizes for the different brand makes. Consider putting covers on the wheels

to protect the sidewall of your tires. Te sun’s UV rays can cause cracking on the sidewall bead at the rim when exposed for prolonged periods, even in winter. Tere are vinyl covers available and are usually sold in pairs. Please note the size of your tires. Trailer storage covers are a great way to help protect

your RV investment. Most covers are designed to shed out moisture from under the cover yet have breathability to guard against mold/mildew etc. Storage covers are made to

fit the type of RV that you have: “A” or “C” Class motorhome, 5th

wheel, tow trailers, campers and tent trailers. ADCO, one

of the manufacturers, uses triple layer of Tyvek by DuPont on the roof and triple layer two-tone polypropylene on the sides. Te side panels are weighted down to assist with securing the covers. Most covers have access panels at or near the RV door so you can gain entry to check thing over during the winter. Please ask your RV dealer for more information. When your RV is closed up for winter storage moisture can

accumulate and cause a musty smell and if leſt long enough could promote mold growth. Installing “Dry Air” moisture -reducing products can help eliminate this potential problem. A new/newer product for your fridge is “NaturzAire” all natural deodorizer for your refrigerator. Tis product can be used all year long to help protect your fresh foods by reducing the dampness of the air inside your fridge. Tis drying of the air will reduce the chance of mold, mildew and cross-contamination of flavours and smells. Te package contains one “pouch” that can be “re-energized” for longer product life. Please ask your RV parts or service department for more information. Just as a reminder, in the spring I

continually hear that the anti-freeze used has leſt a terrible smell and taste in the water system. Te taste and smell usually comes from an alcohol/ethanol based products. Tese types of products are mostly found in big box or some RV retail centers. A quick way to identify this type of anti-freeze is with the flammable symbol found on the product label. A product our shop has been using is

Propylene Glycol based. Danzy Distributor RV Pro brand has a new Premium anti-freeze specially designed for RV’s and offers all the benefits of no odour and aſter-taste while still delivering burst protection to -51 C. Propylene Glycol when used according to directions

is non-toxic, non-flammable and biodegradable. Most Propylene Glycol anti-freeze are slightly more expensive but well worth it when compared to non-Propylene Glycol products for smell and taste. For general information when you are in need of a service

part, your RV parts/service department will need the information from the appliance that requires service. As an example, this time of year I receive lots of calls regarding furnaces. Te make, model and serial number of the furnace is very important. Unfortunately, the year make and model of the RV doesn’t help, as unlike the auto industry there is no manufacturer service manuals to reference. Te same for your fridge: the make, model and serial/production number are necessary to properly determine what the part is needed. Te more information the better! I want to thank you for all for your e-mails and comments

this past camping season. Your product ideas and product tip are very valuable. I look forward to hearing from you over the winter. Have a great holiday season!
