“Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow” - Robert Kiyosaki

s we approach another holiday season, our theme this month is BALANCE and how to stay on track and eat healthy amidst all of the parties and social gatherings. For me, the tool is consistency.
It’s having the understanding that if you overindulge one day, it’s ok – just get back on track the next day and keep being consistent with your
eating and exercising habits. Too many people “fall off the wagon” a few days during the holidays, and then just give up completely and eat excessively and stop exercising because – “well, I already blew it so I’ll start my program again in January.” This is the absolute worst mindset to have!
When we are consistent, we know what to expect. We can trust and rely on
ourselves to show up and complete our tasks. This has such a positive impact on our belief system, because when we trust ourselves we begin to establish positive mes- sages and affi rmations and hear fewer of the negative, self-deprecating voices in our heads.
We all know that losing weight takes time and it is the effect of a consistent ef-
fort to exercise, eat right and change your lifestyle on a daily basis. You may not see the results on a day to day basis, but one day you realize that your pants are a little looser and you start to like what you see in the mirror. How quickly this happens is determined by how consistent you are every day to eat healthy meals and exercise.
But as we know, life often gets in the way and we realize that we have stopped being consistent and doing the things we need to do on a daily basis to reach our goals. So, what to do? As long as you’ve realized it, that’s half the battle! Take some time to think about what you were doing on a consistent basis in the past that helped you reach some of your goals. Then, implement some of those strategies now and see where it takes you.

hh, the holidays! What does that word conjure up in you? Does it make you happy or do you immediately get stressed thinking about the busy season ahead? I would encourage you, during
this holiday season, to focus on what matters most to you instead of falling victim to the commercialized holidays and pressures put on us by society.
My husband and I are usually the ones who host the family
gatherings and I used to get stressed out about it all, but things have changed a lot in our family. This will be the fi rst Thanksgiving and Christmas without my father and just saying that is diffi cult enough. Now I could choose to focus on not having him with us and being depressed about that, but instead I will choose to focus on enjoy- ing time with family and friends and remembering fun memories with my father.
To me, Thanksgiving and Christmas should be a time when we stop to refl ect
on all we have to be thankful for and enjoying the many gifts in our lives. When we allow our thoughts and actions to be just on the rush of the season, what we will eat and the presents we will give or receive, we are missing the opportunity to appreci- ate this special time of the year when we all gather together. So, take a deep breath, let all the hustle and bustle go on around you and focus on who and what is most important to you. By doing this, you’ll let the true love of the holidays shine through.
