Connect To Your Root Chakra
By Heather Nichols T
here are seven chakras in our bodies and they are the centers in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in our chakras can often lead to illness, so it's important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely.
The root chakra is at the base of our spine and its color is red.
This is the chakra that connects us to the earth and reminds us of our right to be here and to trust our instincts. It starts to develop in the womb, first connecting us to our mothers and then connecting us to mother earth.
If you have a healthy root chakra you will feel grounded, nour-
ished and have trust. You will be confident in meeting basic needs and have knowledge of the outdoors. We see healthy roots in healthy trees; they are strong and rooted, yet can bend in the wind and share their gratitude. Having a connected root can bring awareness and efficiency to all your other chakras giving us overall good health by connecting mind, body and spirit.
Some signs of an overactive root chakra are: Having a short at- tention span, a reactive personality, not thinking before taking action, putting trust in others yet not trusting your gut, an excessive amount of physical and mental energy, forgetfulness and being underweight or not taking general good care of self.
Stone recommendations for an overactive root chakra are: • Red Jasper for basic grounding • Cubed Pyrite for stability and consistency • Healers Gold to keep focus and be connected • Red Calcite to see commitments through and nourish the body • Honey Calcite for patience and awareness

ness, fear of change, feeling stuck or alone, being anti-social, having a lack of trust in others and the self, feeling the need to constantly defend the self and creating constant boundaries.
Stone recommendations for an underactive chakra are: • Rose Quartz for love and wisdom • Clear Quartz to remove blockages • Carnelian for energy, motivation and health which helps revital- ize the organs
• Snowflake Obsidian for balance, inner peace and self accep- tance.
• Petrified Wood to help understand the basic needs of the body and to heal trauma
Using stones to help bring a chakra back into balance is as easy as putting stones in a pocket that is close to it, which for the root chakra is at the base of the spine, the pelvic floor and the first three vertebrae. You can use two of the same stones and place one in each pocket to create an anchor to the earth. Another effective way is to work from the back by placing stones on the tailbone and sacrum to help absorb the energy of the minerals. In addition to the stones recommended above, we also recommend using two Shiva Lingam stones to help maintain elemental balance and a connection with the earth and sky.
There are many stones you can use to help restore balance and
health to your chakras. First, you have to be open to the concept of us- ing stones and then learn how to properly use them. I encourage you to make this a part of your journey for whole health.
