Sonoma County, CA. ~ No more wild turkeys marching around our neighborhood. T ey are cleverly hiding out the “season” in Annadel State Park. Beau- tiful
hawks
are do- ing their DNA glide
high in the blue sky over our be-
loved backyard garden sanctuary. If you, too, are reeling from a
huge overdose of politicking, let’s take deep, deep breaths to belt out that last bit of
the aria “Nessun
Dorma” (“no one sleeps” from the opera “Turandot”) with a heartfelt “Vincero! Vincero!” to announce you survived a very hectic year. Who knows—our neighbors may join right in. Top of my list to thank, is, of
course, Paul Doyle, our coura- geous, brilliant publisher of Up- beat Times! And a very Happy November 11th birthday, Paul! Here’s to good health and much deserved happiness to a wonder- ful guy and his family. Paul and Valerie are celebrating the 18th year of bringing positive news in the Upbeat Times to this needy world of ours. How rare it is to fi nd someone as innovative and caring for the human race, as posi- tive thinking, genuinely cheerful, multi-talented Paul!
If you, too, enjoy all sorts of music performed by extremely talented musicians, you will be glad to see the video of the PBS tv Met Op- era’s Great Performances’ Franco Zeffi relli production of the fairy- tale “Tu-
randot.” A huge spectacle. Surely
a fi ne giſt for an opera lover.

Duluth Minnesota, who is Bob Dylan, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature on October 13th! Really hard to fathom that he is now 75. Almost a “golden oldie!” It
is the fi rst
time this honor has gone to a musi- cian. Actually, the Swedish Academy, which always be- stows their prizes based on “a life- time of work” of each recipi- ent, described Dylan’s creation “of new poetic expressions

Portuondo recorded a
stellar album: “Gracias” in 2008 celebrating her 60th year of per- forming. Living in Havana, by the sea off Malecon, she still sings at the Tropicana Club and the Café Cantante.
In 2004, the Interna-

Funky Fridays Raises Over $50,000 For Sonoma County Parks
Sonoma County, CA. ~ The So- noma County Regional Parks Foundation announced today that the fi rst year of Funky Fridays @ the Hood was a tremendous suc- cess. The concert series’ fi rst year at this location generated over $50,000 in net proceeds to benefi t county parks and introduced thou- sands of attendees to Hood Moun- tain Regional Park and Hood Man- sion, a registered historic landmark and east Santa Rosa treasure. The “Funky Fridays Fund” is
earmarked for high-priority oppor- tunities at Hood Mansion, Hood Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve, and other Sonoma Valley parks. Regional Parks and the Parks Foundation have begun to identify these projects and will provide more details in 2017. Volunteer concert promoters
Linda Pavlak and Bill Myers of Kenwood brought together an exceptional team to produce the concert series for 15 consecutive weeks. Additional support for the event included numerous Funky Fridays volunteers, Parks Founda- tion board members and staff, So- noma County General Services and Regional Parks. Partnerships with the Rotary Club of Glen Ellen- Kenwood and Santa Rosa United Soccer Club provided consistent staffi ng for beverage service and

After she woke up, a woman told her husband,
“I just had a dream that you gave me the most beautiful diamond necklace. What do you think it means?”
“You’ll know tonight.” he said with a smile. The woman could hardly think of anything else all day and she couldn’t wait for her husband to return home. That evening, the man fi nally came home with a small package and gave it to his wife.
Delighted, she opened it excitedly to fi nd a book entitled…
