The Continental Congress (1774–1789) was a convention of delegates from the 13 colonies called to govern the nascent United States during the American Revolution. While the Congress began as a divided body, it soon unified in the Second Congress on July 2, 1776, and voted unanimously for indepen- dence from Great Britain, issuing the Declaration of Independence two days later. Soon after, it established the Continental Army with George Washington, one of the Congress’s members at the time, full command of the army.

We Look Forward to Meeting
Our word of the month is : “Prayer” This Sunday’s message: November 6th:
You! We are an open, inclusive, and welcoming congrega- tion. Sunday worship is at
back into San Diego’s wild past of the 1880s. Kids can pan for gold with prospectors, observe a black- smith plying his trade, saddle up for a pony ride, or learn to churn butter and dip their own candle. They can even find a sheriff and throw their parents in the town jail. Take a time-period portrait complete with traditional Wild West attire and props and visit one of the cultural booths to learn about different nationalities and how they have contributed to the diverse fabric of San Diego. Produced by the Gaslamp Quar- ter Historical Foundation. Info: 619-233-5008. Sunday, November 6, 11am; free. Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House, 410
