28 MODULAR PONTOONS

Support for Viking longships

S

trong, durable modular pontoons from Airfloat Ltd have been made in Ireland for more than 25 years in

co-operation with Carbery Plastics the country’s premier plastics manufacturer. Airfloat has forged a successful

association with marine co- ordinator Alistair Rumball and VK Four Productions in Ireland, supplying Alistair with modular pontoons for films, including Private Ryan and, more recently, the much-lauded TV drama series The Vikings, as well as to the BBC for one of its history

programmes. Mr Rumball commented, “The system works well and can withstand all the bashing it gets whilst it is being used to support Viking longships for filming time and time again”. The company recently supplied

Airfloat pontoons for a new series, which will be trailed soon, although the title has not yet been decided. Airfloat has also been working

on a project to erect a two-storey, three-bedroom house on the system! Airfloat Ltd info@airfloatmps.com www.airfloatmps.com

First showing of Static Drive on Dock

One of the world’s leading manufacturers of floating docks and pontoons, VersaDock Ltd, showed its new Static Drive on Dock for the first time at any leisure show when it appeared at the Southampton Boat Show in September. The Drive on Dock demonstrated its capabilities by supporting the latest Gemini RIB, the new Gemini 650 Elite, which was also enjoying its UK debut at the show. The VersaDock Static Drive on

Dock is said to be the only dock of its kind guaranteed to float vessels

of up to three tonnes clear of the water. It enables a motorboat, RIB or PWC to be driven straight out of the water on to the stable dry platform of VersaDock’s advanced modular system, guided by the VersaDock patented V-float cradle. The Static Drive on Dock can be

easily installed in any space that a boat would be moored in the water, such as pontoon berths, yacht clubs and waterside properties. VersaDock Ltd phillip@versadock.com www.versadock.com

Private and recreational berths

Years of experience combined with in-house design and manufacture has enabled Aqua-dock Ltd to provide docking and pontoon systems for personal and private use. Its systems are durable, stable in all water/weather conditions and require minimum maintenance, but also allow original designs to be quickly expanded or totally changed when required. The modular sections fit together

easily, providing a completely stable platform, which will adjust to fluctuations in the water level. Reconfiguration is easy to achieve as, by using the company’s range of fittings, it is possible to create a client’s personal waterfront environment at a surprisingly low cost. Aqua-docks’ modular

construction and durable, lightweight design can also be incorporated into leisure, sports and recreational facilities. Assembly is quick and easy with great flexibility, which allows the systems to meet specific requirements at short notice. The systems are extremely hard-

wearing and need little maintenance, thus reducing overheads. They are designed to endure heavy use over long periods and, being modular, also enable the addition of new sections or replacement of parts at low cost. Aqua-dock Ltd sales@aqua-dock.co.uk www.aqua-dock.co.uk

Recyclable ‘eco-system’ floating pontoons

Designed to adapt to all situations on water, the ‘eco-system’ floating pontoons manufactured by Marine Floor Europe SAS are a highly resistant product, which is both rigid and stable in performance due to its revolutionary structure and three- point locking system. In addition to the fact that they

are fully recyclable, ‘eco-system’ floating pontoons offer a number of other advantages, including fast assembly/disassembly; low weight,

making them easy to handle, transport and store; resistance to ultra-violet rays and freezing conditions; non-slip surface; maintenance-free; and wide range of accessories. A single layer of pontoons will support a maximum load of 366 kg/ sq m.
