Breaking Free Group Innovation Birmingham Campus- based Breaking Free Group – creators of a pioneering digital healthcare platform targeting addictive behaviours – has appointed a new chief technology officer following a successful year which saw the team grow by 20 per cent. Kingsley Pinto joined Breaking


Free Group in November 2015 and has now been promoted to chief technology officer. This follows the recent


appointment of senior front end developer, Alberto Centelles and full stack developer, Norberto Martinez, with further technical hires expected in coming months. Breaking Free Group created the


world’s first online healthcare intervention programme in prisons, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and NHS England. The product, Breaking Free


Health & Justice, is an evidence- based addiction treatment programme enabling people to overcome alcohol and drug dependence. This announcement also follows


an impressive year in which Breaking Free Group received the West Midlands Academic Heath Science Network Digital Health Innovation Award and entered into a number of new long-term partnerships with leading drug and alcohol charities, including South East-based Open Road in the last month. Jonathan Ward, managing


director at Breaking Free Group, said: “Kingsley is an outstanding talent and his knowledge and experience has been of significant benefit to our team. “His appointment, alongside that


of Alberto and Norberto, is demonstrative of our growing success and influence in the digital health sector.”

Weatherite Group Manufacturing firm Weatherite Group has announced two promotions at senior level. Weatherite Service &


Maintenance Limited, leading provider of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration installation and servicing, has promoted Ricky Brookes from general manager to director. Mr Brookes joined the company


in 2010 as service manager and was promoted to general manager in 2013. His responsibilities include managing the office and field- based operational teams, as well as handling disciplinary issues, appraisals and training identification. Weatherite Group director Tim


Whitehouse said: “We are delighted to announce that Ricky will joining the board of directors. “Ricky has been an asset to the


business since he joined six years ago. He is an excellent project and relationship manager and successfully builds and maintains multiple relationships with suppliers and distributors, adding a breadth of knowledge to the business.” In another significant promotion,


Daniel Male has been appointed general manager at Weatherite Aluminium Solutions Limited. The company specialises in the


design, manufacture and installation of aluminium entrance facades, automatic doors, windows, curtain walling, shutter systems and security doors. Mr Male’s responsibilities will


include developing the business in other market sectors sycg as retirement living, hotels, hospitals, universities and commercial buildings. He joined Weatherite in 2005 as contracts and installation manager.


Rapleys A Birmingham commercial property agent has been named partner of a national business, following its takeover of his business. Alfred Bartlett (pictured), who


ran Bartlett Property in the city, is now a partner of Rapleys, a long- established business which has six offices around the country. Rapleys has absorbed the


Bartlett Property business, which will continue to be run by Alfred Bartlett. Mr Bartlett is well known to Rapleys, having worked for the firm in the 1990s. He said: “I have always had an


affinity with Rapleys and am very pleased to be rejoining the fold. I am looking forward to contributing to the firm’s continued growth which couldn’t come at a better time given the thriving Midlands market.”


Lufthansa Group Andreas Köster (pictured) has been appointed senior director sales UK, Ireland & Iceland Lufthansa Group. Mr Köster, 45, brings many years


of experience in airline management to his new position. He started his career in 1997 as


management trainee with Lufthansa. He then gained experience in airline revenue management, before becoming general manager market and business development. In 2007, he returned to Lufthansa’s Frankfurt office as director customer intelligence,and six years later became director global key account management. Mr Köster has an industrial engineering degree, from the Technical University Braunschweig in Germany.

Grant Thornton Business and finance adviser Grant Thornton in Birmingham has taken on 19 trainees, nine of whom have recently graduated from university and eight are joining from school following A-levels. Grant Thornton says this demonstrates the shift towards


professional firm apprenticeships – a trend which the firm has championed for several years. David Hillan, practice leader at Grant Thornton in Birmingham, said:


“We know that more and more young people are considering new ways into the world of work, with some preferring to consider school leaver programmes over higher education. “Three years ago we took the decision to remove academic barriers


to entry, widen access and encourage newcomers who have the talent and ambition to work with us to take the business forward.”
