Chamber selects a charity to focus on
A local organisation that helps people cope with sight loss and disability has been adopted as this year’s charity at the Asian Business Chambers of Commerce annual dinner and awards. The charity is Focus Birmingham,
which is based in Harborne. The organisation offers support and rehabilitation advice to people suffering with sight loss. There are already 29,000
suffering from sight loss in Birmingham, and Focus deals with around 240 new cases each year. The organisation believes this figure
will rise, due to an ageing population and the growth of diabetes. ABCC president Saqib Bhatti said: "The ABCC is
delighted to have selected Focus as our nominated charity of the year. There are some fantastic local and national charities that are involved with the ABCC, but this year Focus stood out.
“We hope to support them in their work and
wish them every success on their path." Tom Harrison (pictured), CEO of Focus Birmingham, said: “Focus Birmingham are delighted to have been chosen as the ‘Nominated Charity’ for the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) annual dinner and awards event this year. “We would like to pass our
gratitude to the ABCC selection committee and to everyone involved at ABCC for giving our organisation the opportunity to be part of the
biggest must-attend event for the Asian
businesses in Greater Birmingham. “This prestigious event will allow us to showcase
the charity’s role within local communities as well as raise much needed funds to continue providing our vital services to those living with sight loss and disability in Birmingham.”
