Taking a bite out of the market
Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) West Midlands welcomed a number of West Midlands-based companies to its inaugural ‘Meet the Buyer’ event at this year’s Ludlow Food Festival. The event was organised jointly Enterprise
Europe Network Midlands and the Department for International Trade (DIT) West Midlands. The Ludlow Food Festival provides potential
buyers with an opportunity to meet food and drink producers from the West Midlands region whose produce is niche, but suitable for the international marketplace. More than 25 West Midlands companies
showcased their products to 15 overseas buyers. Rupi Nandra, head of International
Programmes at EEN, said: “We decided to focus on this sector given the opportunities available to our companies.
All hail to the ale: Mark Arnott-Job of Two Tower Brewery, an exhibitor at the Ludlow Festival event
“It is a great sector for the West Midlands and
the opportunities for exporting are vast. Enterprise Europe Network has been able to facilitate these international business introductions and we are confident that there will be some key business agreements that result.”

heard in Brussels Midlands businesses are being given the opportunity to get right to the heart of the European Union and influence policy. The EU is organising a biennial event at the
European Parliament in Brussels known as ‘European Parliament of Enterprises’, which will see businesses take over for the day. The event has been organised by
Eurochambres, which acts as the eyes, ears and voice of the business community at EU level. The organisation represents in excess of 20m businesses from more than 40 national chambers of commerce. ‘European Parliament of Enterprises’ takes
place on 13 October and Eurochambres said the event is intended to recreate the configuration of a parliamentary session. This year topics include trade, Single Market, sustainability and skills.
