Rockers, Love of Lesbian, who invited him to join them for a few songs, during their
two sell out concerts in Murcia. Hi All !
Last month I featured "The Streeters" a 3 piece power band that is taking the South Costa Blanca by storm. I was provided with a wealth of information about this dynamic combo (thanks Bryn), so much so, that I have decided this month to feature "El Niño Magnetico" aka Austin Slack, lead guitarist with The Streeters.
Austin originates from Rotherham, England, and at 15 years of age has become a prime focal point for the audiences. It was in fact the infusion of this young talent that sparked my interest in this up and coming group.
Austin was born and raised on music with his dad (and manager) Bryn encouraging his growing interest in music from an early age. The family moved to Caravaca de la Cruz when Austin was 4 years old, where he has grown up mainly listening to Spanish artistes, and at 9 years of age, he was given his first Spanish Guitar.
Austin took private guitar lessons for a time and also attended a workshop with the Animeros of Caravaca. He admits his best learning experience was the internet - he would sit and watch hours of tutorial videos on YouTube.
It soon became apparant that Austin was a natural, and he soon began receiving invitations to perform and record with other musicians. These included the band Neuman, and Spanish Indie
Austin cites Fito y Fitipaldis, Knopfler,
Hendrix and Muse as his main influences.
As his confidence and musical
talents
expanded, his hunger for performing live also spiraled and he hooked up with Oscar to form his first band Magnetic Jukebox.
What impresses me most with this young Maestro, is that he's still a teenager and has already in 6 short years mastered his instrument.
Bear in mind that a lot of the successful bands from the 1960s (Beatles and Rolling Sones included) were just starting to learn their instruments at 15 years of age.
I foresee a great future in the music industry for Austin Slack, and like many of his followers here in Spain, I wish him well. I am convinced he will make it to the top.
Don't miss the opportunity of seeing for yourself, this amazing talent.
