Book Review by Ivor Kindle E-book v tree book

Hello readers...I thought that rather than review an actual book this month I would take a look at the reading market with a view on the E-book versus the tree book.

Interestingly the tide seems to be turning back in the favour of the traditional tree book. It has been about eight years since the first Kindle

and five years since the first Apple iPad. These and a selection of other E-readers appeared to be the death knell of the traditional paper book. The Kindle, the Nook and the Kobo took the market by storm and appeared unstoppable when aided by all the electronic downloads that became available.

Not for me though... I have always been a fan of the paper book and it seems the trend has started to turn back in favour of tradition. In a recent survey 57% of people asked said

that they preferred a paper book... the same survey recorded that only 21% preferred the electronic book... the other 22% showing no preference.

An interesting comment was made

recently viz the tree book... it said "for some types of reading, the physical act of opening a thick cover and listening to the whispered crackle of spine and pages is part of the enjoyment of actually reading a real book".

Long may the tree book continue to be popular. ...keep reading Ivor Kindle.
