The Moors and Christians seem to be everywhere during the summer (with the possible exception of Torrevieja!) and will be marching in Castalla from the 31st August to the 4th September. This year commemorates the 700 years of Moorish occupation of the area which took place between the 7th and 14th century. During the Moorish rule there were many battles with the Christians, and so the fiesta focuses on these. Wednesday 31st August ‘Night of the Olleta’: 9pm Parade of the Musical Bands through the streets.
