The twin handrail was supplied with a 50mm dia. PVCu upper handrail for support to those who need it and a lower 125mm deep protection rail which standing slightly forward of the handrail, offers protection to both the wall decor and the handrail itself, minimising on repair and replacement.

Yeoman Shield’s new Guardian Twin Handrail was installed as part of the ward refurbishment project recently undertaken at Barnsley Hospital, South Yorkshire. A 350+ bed hospital built in the 1970s and serving a quarter of a million people in the Barnsley area, the hospital demands a constant regime of maintenance throughout its premises.
Hunter Douglas delivers aluminium ceiling
Hunter Douglas played its part in the creation of the new €204 million International Criminal Court (ICC), providing 29,000m2 56,000m2
of ceiling panels. The complex, designed by architect Bjarne
Hammer, of Denmark’s renowned agency Schmidt, Hammer, Lassen Architects, had to express the essence of democratic architecture – something that
the Hunter Douglas ceiling clearly demonstrates. Hunter Douglas was commissioned to manufacture slim aluminium ceiling panels, perforated and inlaid with acoustic mats. These were selected for practical reasons because it enables fire safety and air quality installations to be tucked away neatly.

Hunter Douglas, has used its expertise in an ongoing £7 million refurbishment of Enfield Civic Centre. The company was commissioned by archi- tectural consultancy Pellings LLP to create bespoke solid timber grill ceilings, totalling 480m2
, in break-
out areas over eight floors as part of a four-year pro- gramme to update the civic centre. Using CAD
drawings, it created an Ayous grill ceiling in 7-40-15-55 module. The timber was impregnated with Hunter Douglas’ standard fire treatment, which meets the European Fireclass B-s2-d0, and was complemented with an acoustic backing sprayed black to maintain a warm look.
