Mapei products specified to create a distinctly British feel in luxury London apartments

apei’s products have been specified to help represent the epitome of sophisticated city living in a London-
based apartment redevelopment. Mapei products were distributed by Boyden Tiles, Croydon with the project being led by WB Simpsons. 67 Tufton Street is tucked away, down an
elegant street in one of London’s most prestigious quarters. The 22,000 sq. foot building, previously used for office space, has been converted into a residential building. The stylish development compromises of 19 spacious, luxurious apartments and three duplex penthouses just a stone’s throw away from the Houses of Parliament. Keraquick and Latex Plus were used on approx. 340m2
of
flooring to lay the Domus porcelain 600 x 600 tiles in all the main and ensuite bathrooms plus all of
800m2 of wall tiling was fixed using Mapei’s
Ultralite S2 – a high performance, lightweight cementitious adhesive with very low emissions of volatile organic compounds. The adhesive, specifically developed for large size tiles to be laid on large surfaces without back buttering, was used to bond Domus Tiles 3m x 1m ‘Kerlite Slim’ porcelain tiles to the walls of the apartments luxury bathrooms and ensuites. Versatile Sanifloor is useful in many situations
The Sanifloor shower pump was launched by Saniflo to cater for shower areas where floor drainage is required but space underneath is limited, such as wet- rooms that feature tiling or vinyl flooring or showers with super slim shower trays. It has a choice of waste designs, as well as a range of other benefits, that allows great flexibility and this has proved to be a big draw
for customers with the pumps being sold into a multitude of applications. The pump features a high flow rate of 25l, so that it can be used with powerful ‘rain shower’ heads and has a dual action feature that sucks waste up from the gully and pumps waste water away up to 3m vertically and 30m horizontally.

Washroomhas played a key role in upgrading the washrooms at a busy shopping centre in Northampton. The Weston Favell shopping centre, which is home to one of the largest Tesco stores in the country as well as more than 70 shops and restaurants, attracts thousands of visitors each week. Originally built in the 1970s, the centre was in need of a full refurbishment and HFM Architects took on the project, giving the centre a vibrant new look with new brand style and signage throughout. Working closely with both HFM Architects and main contractor Base Build Services, Washroom delivered a modern washroom area, including disabled toilets and baby change facilities, all designed to match the new bright and contemporary centre. Key to the success of the washroom design is the installation of the new Alavo integrated consumable unit from Dolphin Dispensers which features subtle colour changing LEDs as well as concealed soap and hand dryers. Combined with bespoke sloping Corian troughs, the Alavo system adds to the high specification finish yet will withstand the rigours of a high traffic environment and significantly reduces the client’s cleaning burden, making it ideal for a busy shopping centre. Washroom installed its Senza cubicles in solid grade laminate (SGL) finished with an attractive walnut veneer to complement the contemporary style.
