the WINONA, a small steam yacht, which would accommodate about 15 persons, and which was at that time owned by Charles Pearl of Bangor. Before that time he was engaged for about two years in Curacoa, West Indies, in bridge construction. In his trips about Phillips Lake Mr. Cobb
realized, as he watched the throbs about two years and during this time he has been around the world in the boat twice. Mr. Hill was very much taken with the work of his engineer and he is reported to have said that his engines were never run in a more satisfactory manner than when they were under the charge of this same engineer from Brewer. Chief Engineer of MINNESOTA At the present time Mr. Hill has under
construction two steamships, which will be the largest steam crafts afl oat. They will be known as the MINNESOTA and the DAKOTA and they will be used for the Oriental trade. The MINNESOTA was launched last spring and will be fully completed some time next summer, probably in June, and Mr. Cobb has been appointed as the chief engineer of this fl oating palace. It is an honor which comes to but a few in this world and while his success rests lightly upon his shoulders the friends of Mr. Cobb in this city and abroad consider that his rapid rise in his profession is little short of miraculous. He is at present at work upon the installation of
the engines which are to drive this enormous boat.

Sent Back for His Wife. The following dispatch from Baltimore
is of interest to Bangor people and all those acquainted with the captain: Baltimore, Maryland, Saturday: - After
starting on a 15,000 mile voyage around Cape Horn, Capt. Moxen anchored his ship, the W. F. BABCOCK, 100 miles from port until a tug could come back to Baltimore for his wife at a cost of $240. Mrs. Moxen was a resident of New
Zealand and is a strikingly handsome woman. She has been going to sea with Capt. Moxen for six years and has been all over the world. When the W. F. BABCOCK came to
Baltimore from San Francisco and New York she decided that she would not make the present trip around Cape Horn, and it was arranged that she spend the time ashore. When the BABCOCK sailed and Capt.
Moxen saw the waters of the bay widening out toward the sea, the emptiness of the ship’s big cabin was accentuated by the howl of the gale that swept about the vessel. He saw a four months’ voyage ahead of him. Capt. Moxen could not stand it, he must have his wife go, no matter how much it thinned his wallet. He ordered the ship anchored off
Windmill Point. The towing tug was asked to come alongside. It was agreed that the tug should get $10 an hour for returning 100 miles to Baltimore, waiting until Mrs. Moxen and her eff ects could be brought aboard and steaming down the bay to the ship. This was done and Mrs. Moxen is aboard
