OOCYTE ASPIRATION
In addition to our success with embryo transfer, Blue Chip Farms now has the unique capability to perform oocyte aspirations for ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) at our on-site reproductive center at Blue Chip in cooperation with pioneer Dr. Rob Foss and his Equine Medical Services. ICSI allows for the use of semen from stallions such as Heartbreaker, Nabab de Reve and Cumano & is optimal for mares that have reproductive challenges or busy competition schedules.
ICSI & Embryo Transfers have been successfully performed on mares in sport without interfering with their performance schedules including ‘Kara BC’(Darco) who was successfully bred while in sport that produced the 2015 BWP/NAD High Score foal ‘Pura Vida BC’(Vigo).

Blue Chip is also one of the few certified quarantine facilities to commercially collect, freeze & ship semen for both National and International shipment. Blue Chip is located an hour from Saugerties & Old Salem. Te total aspiration procedure is completed usually within an hour.
