competitor and sire of Painted Black and Totilas. Unee BB’s dam is by Dageraad (Ramiro Z/Nimmerdor) and out of a KWPN mare by Doruto (a Trakehner by Komet and out of a Pindar xx mare). Watermill Scandic (4th) is a KWPN from the Cor de la

Bryere (by Rantzau xx) sire line. His sire, Solos Carex (Danish Warmblood), was an international dressage mount tracing to Calypso I (Holsteiner and full brother to Calypso II), Land- graf I (by Ladykiller xx) and Leander (by Ladykiller xx). Scan- dic’s dam was by Amiral 764 (a Swedish Warmblood dres- sage competitor) and out of a daughter of Michelangelo (a Trakehner dressage competitor). Mister X (7th), originally named Darij, is a Russian

Trakehner with a Thoroughbred broodmare sire, but his Trakehner bloodlines seem to be predominantly those of jumpers. Forpost was a jumper, Privet (who appears twice in the pedigree) was a jumper, Hromogen was a jumper, Faraon xx was a jumper, and so on. Vancouver K (8th) is KWPN by the dressage horse Jazz,

who in turn was by the dressage horse Cocktail (Purioso/Le Val Blanc xx), and thus from the Furioso xx sire line of Furioso II (Selle Français). Jazz’s dam traces to Nimmerdor (by Farn). Vancouver K’s dam is by the dressage horse Ferro (Ulft/Farn) and also boasts Gunnar (Trakehner) and Joost in her lineage. Jojo Az (9th) is a Hungarian Sport Horse of largely KWPN

heritage. His KWPN sire, Ginus, is by Renville (Courville xx/ Farn) and out of a mare by Heidelberg (by Ladykiller xx). Jojo Az’s dam is by Justboy (KWPN), a son of Voltaire (Furioso II/ Gotthard) and out of a mare by Wisconsin (by Nimmerdor). The granddam not only traces to Hungarian bloodlines on her female side, but to the Holsteiner Aldato (by Anblick xx) on her sire line. Smeyers Molberg (10th) is a Danish Warmblood by

Michellino (KWPN), a son of the Trakehner Michelangelo (Pasteur xx/Matador) and a daughter of the KWPN Ulft (Le Mexico/Pericles xx) who carries an additional cross to Pericles xx through the second dam. Molberg’s dam was by Rambo (from the Ramiro Z sire line and out of a Trakehner dam by Ibikus) and traces to the Hanoverian Allegro (by Absatz) and Sir Scott xx.

JUMPING

The Longines Jumping Final gave us a very interesting top ten. The jumpers’ bloodlines showed less variation than the dressage horses, which is a bit of a reversal of the norm in recent memory. And one stallion proved to be very influential among the top jumpers.

Cornet Obolensky (Belgian Warmblood) sired Corbinian (1st), Cornet d’Amour (3rd), Cornado I (4th) and Cristallo (sire of Cristalline in 10th place). He was an international jumper and has been prolific, siring a fair number of jumpers. He is by Clinton (Holsteiner jumper), by Corrado I (by Cor de la Bryere)

and out of a mare by Heartbreaker (KWPN and a Nimmerdor/ Le Mexico/Uppercut xx blend) that also carries the influence of Ramiro Z, Alme Z, Farn and Lucky Boy xx. Corbinian’s dam is by Pilot (Westphalen jumper and

former leading sire of jumpers) and traces to Der Clou (Hanoverian). Cornet d’Amour’s dam carries two crosses to Pilot. Other international jumpers (i.e. Copperphild) exhibit a similar cross, showing that Cornet Obolensky does well with that bloodline. But before we claim that as a magic cross, we need to know that Cornado I’s Holsteiner dam is by Acrobat I (a blend of Alme Z, Gotthard, Capitano and Calypso I) and out of a mare showing two crosses to Cor de la Breyere (one through Caletto I) as well as the influence of Roman. However, Cristalline’s sire, Cristallo (by Coronet Obolensky), is out of a mare by Cassini I (Capitol I/Caletto II) who traces to Polydor (by Pilot’s sire, Pilatus). Cristal- line’s dam has Caletto II (by Cor de la Bryere), Calypso IV (by Cor de la Bryere), Lord (Ladykiller xx/Cottage Son xx) and Ramiro Z in her ancestry. N.O.P. Emerald (2nd) is a Belgian Warmblood stallion by the famous Selle Français jumper and sire of jumpers, Diamant de Semilly (Le Tot de Semilly/Ibrahim/Amapour xx with two
