Exposition celebrated its 65th Anniversary with more than 612,000 guests attending through its 21-day run. An on-going staple of Miami lifestyle and culture, this year’s Youth Fair brought many fresh and exciting family events to the area, including nightly laser shows, ice skating shows and five themed concerts featuring international musicians such as Village People, Tavares, MercyMe, Jesse James Decker, Oscar D’ Leon, the Celia Cruz All Stars and Willy Chirino, to name a few. volvement in the Miami-Dade County area, The Youth Fair showcased more than 58,000 student projects, a six percent increase from last year. 2016 also saw the return of many of several fundraisers hosted by concessionaries, such as Surf N’ Turf and the Red Thornberry & Miami-Dade County Youth Fair Golf Clas- sic, which combined raised nearly $50,000 to benefit The Youth Fair’s Scholarship Fund and Miami-Dade County students. The Youth Fair also held its third annual canned food
drive to benefit a local Miami Rescue Mis- sion, an organization that helps to feed the homeless community through its food bank initiative. In 2016, The Youth Fair continued to fea-
ture some of the nation’s best and most unique food and beverage vendors, introducing fair- goers to delights such as funnel bacon a stick, meatball sub on a stick, and cotton candy ale. Many of these food vendors competed in the 2nd annual savory Foodie Awards competi- tion, judged by local chefs and food bloggers. This year’s Foodie Awards winner for best tasting fair food was Up-n-Smoke Tacos, with their 3 Amigos Tacos dish. This year’s World of Agriculture tent was
larger than before and featured such highlights as Cow Town, a 1,000 lb. butter sculpture depicting a cow with a boy and a girl, as well as chicks, chickens, rabbits, cavies, cows and many others. Events included numerous horse shows, market animal auctions and even horse soccer. This year’s Youth Fair was host to the largest Ranch Sorting event in Florida history with the most amount of teams ever participat-
