Södra Cell pulp mill orders evaporator from Andritz

Together with Andritz, we will build a highly technological evaporator that not only reinforces the energy efficiency of our pulp mill, but also strengthens and improves the process as a whole.” A new evaporator and modernisati on of the brown stock washing system in the dissolving pulp line, where texti le pulp is produced, will make it possible for Södra to increase its producti on rate while also enabling larger deliveries of energy products, such as electricity, district heati ng and biofuels. The new investment will increase producti on capacity by 45,000 tonnes, bringing the total producti on of paper and dissolving pulp to 470,000 tonnes. The new 7-eff ect evaporator

s part of Södra’s SEK 1 billion (US$123m) expansion of its Södra Cell pulp mill
at Mörrum, announced in February, an order for a new evaporati on plant has been
placed with Andritz. During the 2014-2020 expansion
plan, the Mörrum mill’s capacity will be increased from 380,000 tonnes to 500,000 tonnes, of which 200,000 tonnes will consist of high-quality dissolving pulp.
The start-up is planned for the
fourth quarter of 2017. Södra Cell Mörrum mill manager Stefan Sandberg commented: “We are looking forward to increasing the volume of Södra Cell Mörrum’s leading-
represents an important step in Södra Cell Mörrum’s strategy plan to expand its producti on capacity. The evaporati on plant will produce lye with a high content of dry solids, and replace the existi ng evaporati on lines while considerably improving the energy effi ciency of the mill. This will lead to a signifi cant energy surplus at the mill, in turn enabling increased energy supplies to nearby customers.
Vinda orders converting lines from Futura for continued growth
Chinese tissue maker Vinda International, which recently acquired three SCA businesses in Malaysia, Korea and Taiwan, has ordered a number of high- performance converting lines from Italy-based Futura. One of the leading players in China’s fast-expanding tissue market, Vinda is investing in new capacity to meet demand
while improving its competitive position through the production of quality products using the latest equipment. Based at Jiangmen in Guangdong province, Vinda has yearly sales of more than US$100 million, producing facial tissue, toilet paper, kitchen towels, sanitary towels, baby diapers, sanitary pads and
wet wipes. Futura has installed a number of its Andromeda Concept systems at Vinda, and this positive experience influenced the recent order. Piero Ceccon, Futura’s sales
chief and VP of international operations, said: “It has been a very positive experience working with Vinda and we are
delighted that our partnership is entering a new phase of intensity. The tissue market in China is evolving strongly and all of us at Futura are highly motivated to be redrawing the boundaries together with such an important player in this market.” The first lines ordered are scheduled to start up in 2017.
