Budding author, Lizzie Allister, unveiled of her first children’s book, The Adventures of Bumble the Bus: A Day at The Seaside. The book launched online at the beginning of April and has already sold copies worldwide, with happy customers as far afield as Mexico, Australia and the USA.
Born and raised in Solihull, Lizzie is taking on the wondrous world of children’s books for the first time. As well as being a property marketing manager by day, the co-founder of a successful wedding transport business at the weekend, and a dedicated mum round the clock, Lizzie is now able to add ‘author’ to her ever-increasing list of accomplishments.
The inspiration for the main character Bumble the Bus came from her 1962 Volkswagen Campervan – the real life Bumble which is used in her wedding transportation company to drive brides and grooms on their special day. After seeing the tremendous love for her campervan, particularly from children, Lizzie decided to bring Bumble to life by placing him at the centre of her seaside story.
The Adventures of Bumble the Bus: A Day At The Seaside is the first in a series of adventure books written by Lizzie and is now available to purchase, RRP £7.99, from Amazon, Foyles, Waterstones, and Barnes and Noble.

BIRMINGHAM IS TICKLED PINK WITH ARRIVAL OF
NEW BREAST CANCER SCREENING UNIT Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) AND Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer (LFBC) – are improving Breast Cancer services in the city, with the arrival of their jointly-funded mobile mammogram unit at Broad Meadow Heath Centre in Kings Norton.
Purchased by both charities as part of their £1 Million Appeal which was launched by Lord Digby Jones in 2013, this screening facility cost £250,000 and boasts leading x-ray facilities that will be used by up to 62 women a day, helping to not only detect Breast Cancer earlier but also promote self-examination in the local community.
The units pink exterior makes it the first of its kind in the UK, moving away from the typically cold and sterile screening units, with a welcoming relaxation area complete with a top spec interior, private consultation room, and dual changing rooms.
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with 1 in 8 women expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime. Around 50,000 women are diagnosed each year and 12,000 die from the disease, however, the good news is that research and treatments are increasing survival rates every year – and units like this will certainly help!
