Heart Breakfast with Ed James

This month, it's only right to be talking about my Heart Breakfast co-host Rachel New's favourite artist of the moment… Lukas Graham! Don't let the name fool you, Lukas Graham is actually a four-piece band consisting of drummer Mark, bassist Magnus, Kasper on keys and lead vocalist (and namesake of the band) Lukas Graham Forchhammer.

Starting out in 2012, the Danish band have launched an album and quickly became a huge live act in Denmark. However, it was their single '7 Years' which probably caught your attention more recently. The song has been one of the biggest hits of the year in the UK with a massive 6 weeks at the top of the Vodafone Big Top 40.

And it's easy to see why the song is so popular. Aside from the catchy melody and great sounding voice of Lukas himself, the memorable lyrics have the ability to really strike a chord with listeners. The song documents the life of a twenty-something- year-old man who reflects on the life lessons he's learnt so far, as well as the anticipation of what's to come. Some of his advice from his 'mama' and 'daddy' includes; "Go make yourself some friends" and, "Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely" - so simple and makes perfect sense! You can't help singing along to the song the whole way through.

Lukas Graham bring their tour to the O2 Institute2 later this month and it's going to be an awesome night! But, if you can't wait until then, we're loving their song on Heart at the moment. And rest assured, when you're singing along in your car on your way to work, you can be sure that Rachel and I will be singing our hearts out too… Luckily for you though, the microphone won't be turned up!

Turn on the feel-good and tune in to Heart Breakfast with Ed and Rachel, weekdays from 6-10am on Heart 100.7, DAB, at heart.co.uk or via the Heart mobile app.
