gardeners really, come in all shapes and sizes. The garden designers would have us believe that we should all start with a blank canvas and a piece of graph paper. Most gardens aren’t like that of course. They have probably gradually evolved and developed, sometimes according to a predetermined plan but often not. What is in no doubt is that we are a nation of gardeners. For some the garden may be a chore but for many of us it is our own little bit of green to tend and nurture. Whatever your ‘little bit of green’ may be there is a category for you in the Kingsbridge in Bloom local garden competition. This is held in June and is open to all Kingsbridge residents and businesses. The event

hat is the typical English garden? There is probably no such thing. Gardens, just like


is designed to encourage participation whether you have a pot, a hanging basket, a patio, a small or a large garden. There is


a section for the best pub, church and commercial premises. This isn’t about Chelsea Flower Show standards but an opportunity for local people to show off what is special about their very own pot or plot. If you fancy having a go pop into the Tourist Information in Kingsbridge to pick up an entry form with details of dates and judging criteria. These will be available from the beginning of April. What are you waiting for? Take your marks! Get set! GROW!
