ROAD Support Scheme
Driver FIT The Road Fit scheme is
for any driver who has: Experienced a loss of confi dence in their driving
A medical condition or is on prescribed medication
Returned to driving, perhaps after an operation or a health episode
Any concern about their ability or that of a friend or relative to drive
The scheme enables you to take a short assessed drive with one of our local professional driver trainers. You will be given advice about your driving performance and a written report at the conclusion of your assessment. Your doctor will be sent a copy of this report. This will help you and your doctor decide the best course of action to take to reduce the chance of problems occurring when you are behind the wheel.
It is all about helping you to cope safely as a driver.
How do I access the Road Fit scheme?
You can be referred by your GP or other health professional You can refer yourself
You can refer a family member or friend There is a fee payable for the Road Fit driving assessment.
Your Road Fit driver trainer will not have any role regarding your driving licence. In the event that a driver is considered unsafe, this will be included in the report to the doctor, who has a duty to act on this information.
