The National Collegiate Athletics Assoc’s convention, held in San Antonio January 14-16,
was the venue for nearly 200 college administrators to vote to allow equestrian participation to continue in Division II. The sport had been designated as an NCAA emerging sport for women since 2002, but in recent months was on track to be removed from that category. However, the results of a January 16 vote meant that equestrian will remain in Division II, a great triumph for the sport.
