If you find yourself the victim of a missing horse, time is of the essence. Check your fence line and make sure your horse isn’t off vis- iting the neighbor. Walk the pasture and make sure he isn’t down some- where. Call your neighbors and ask them if they have seen your horse, any weird rigs on the road, or any suspicious activity. Once you have determined your horse didn’t free himself, contact your local law enforcement. They will walk the prop- erty, look for signs of foul play, assign a case number, and start work- ing your case. Your next call needs to go to Stolen Horse International, Inc or

Your horse’s information will reside on the netposse.com website where the public can view his flyer, pic- tures, description, and other key information.

Keep them handy and pass along to your contacts. These horses can appear anywhere. They may be in your barn where you board, in a sale, your best friend’s new horse, or maybe at a show or trail ride. Always keep in mind that rescues may see these horses in a rundown condition. Someone could pur- chase them as a project horse. You never know how the thieves will choose to make their money off your stolen horse. w
