areas such as reducing the costs of essential services and access to affordable housing. We are also working alongside organisations including White Ribbon to develop and implement an organisational framework for how we respond to violence against women – within our services, and within our workplace for staff who may be experiencing this serious problem.
We have also recognised the need for internal change within Uniting Communities to meet the changing ways in which community and human services are funded and delivered. Preparing for consumer- directed care through better information and communication systems and assessment of
customer requirements has been critical, particularly through our carer and disability support and community-based services to older South Australians.
Our commitment is to be an ‘agency of choice’ for all those who can benefit from our programs and to keep community at the heart of all we do.
Many individuals and businesses support Uniting Communities through offering time, skills and financial support. We thank you for your ongoing generosity. Through changing times we also demand much from our staff, volunteers and those who are responsible for the governance of our organisation.
The changes which we have been managing have required dexterity and an openness to take on new opportunities – a challenge which has been readily accepted.
An eagerness to grow and adapt is keeping Uniting Communities highly relevant and responsive to emerging demands and expectations.
