We’re going in hard and fast for February, gang, just how I like it, with about one million gigs happening, often loads on the same night, so pick wisely between your Mongolian music/90’s indie/UK hip hop/U.S punk/local gems. Tere’s something for everyone I promise. Buckle up, live music fans. We have lift off.


Snack on some Californian death metal on the 3rd courtesy of Nekrogoblikon supported by the beautifully named Te Bastard Sons at the Waterfront Studio. Alternatively you could head to Te Bicycle Shopfor Rob Heronand the Tea Pad Orchestrawho will be serving up a slice of swing/blues/gypsy jazz/country. Delicious.


Local stunners Marlawill be playing at Openon the 5th with support from Keep Up, Te Renadeans and Gentlemen. A motherload of Norwich good un’s. Or get yourself to Te Brickmakers on the same night for another top local band Tieving Icons along with Te MacGregors, In And Out Of Sleep and Jordan Knights. Or, if you’re into your fresh new dance music, there’s a banger of a night courtesy of Tropico at the LCRwith My Nu Leng, Preditah, Maximum, FriscoandElf Kidall rinsing out their sweet grime soundz.


On the 6thTe Specials singer Neville Staple is playing Openwith his band for a bit of knees up action, or get rocking with Soulfly, King Parrot and Incite at the Waterfront. Don’t forget your earplugs..it’s gonna be a loud one.

the Waterfront Studioon the 7th along with Misty Miller and Montagues & Capulets, Norwich’s own spoken word/rap maestro Luke Peter Foster is at Gonzo’s along with David Jones and Joe Quinn & Te Living Tings. Or why not catch the lovely songbird Gabrielle Aplindoing her thang at UEAalong with Hudson Taylor and Hannah Grace?


Bowling For Souphave been around for a mindblowing 30 years now, and they’re coming toUEAalong with Te Dollyrots, Lacey and MC Lars to rock the joint on the 8th yo.


If you’ve never heard Mongolian music before, open your ears to eight piece bandAnda Union, playing at Norwich Arts Centreon the 9th. Mighty.


Introduce yourself to the mighty Little Simz,London- based rap artiste at the Waterfront Studioon the 11th. Ipswich rock band Basement will be playing the Waterfront along with Tigers Jaw and Alex G on the very same night. Lots of hype for this one. If you something a bit heavier that night, What Lies Within,a hard hitting metal band for lovers of Bullet For My Valentine and Bring Me Te Horizon play the Brickmakers.

Catch legendary Norfolk band Magooat Te Murderers, alongside folk- master Broads, acoustic duo Splintered ManandTe Living End! on the 12th. At Open on the same night is the amazingPublic Service Broadcasting,a rescheduled date from the end of last year. Or, if you’re looking for more of a jazz/electronica/classical vibe, get thee to Norwich Arts Centre for the Mercury Prize nominated GoGo Penguin.Phew, what a night!


Stick ‘em up punk! It’s the Fun Lovin' Criminals, heading for UEAto play their iconic album Come Find Yourself on its 20th anniversary on the 13th. Alternatively it’s another great Pony Up night at the Arts Centre, this time featuring acclaimed new local band Rope Store plus support from the amaze Superglu amongst others.


Te Kerrang! tour 2016 is heading up to UEAon the 16th, this time feat 90’s Canadians Sum 41.Tis one’s sold out. Sorry rawk fans. For something completely different also on the 16th, folk giant James Yorkston, the double bass player from Lamb plus a sarangi player from New Delhi will be making incredible music atTe Bicycle Shop.But if you’re after some local action, and who isn’t, Gonzo’s will be hosting Hot Raisin,Robbie Hall and Turf Club Racebook for a hot acoustic shakedown. And finally on the same night, acclaimed and precocious-in-a-good- way Spanish foursome Hinds are at the Norwich Arts Centre to play us some


On the 17thget down with Little Cometsand Hippo Campus at Open as part of their already-mostly-sold- out tour.


If you’re a fan of 90’s indie, don’t miss Te Magic E’sand Kepler at the Waterfront Studio to celebrate their debut EP release on the 18th.


It’s back to life, back to reality and off to UEAfor the fantastically funkySoul II Soul with very special guests James Taylor Quartet and Norman Jay MBEon the 19th. Boom! And at the Waterfront Studioare Norwich bandsHello Bear, Tieving Icons, Soft Fiction and Te Lola's.


Sheffield’s son Richard Hawleybrings his heartfelt folk music to the LCRon the 21st. Tis’ll be a lovely night. At the Bicycle Shop you can enjoyLee Gordon’s single release along with Te Turf Club Racebook and Lucy Grubb. So great this show’s sold out and they’ve added a matinee show at 4pm. Gonzo’s is hosting Norwich’s darling, folk singer Milly Hirst alongside Liam Jary and Tokyo.


And finally, finishing up the month on the 26th is a co- headline show from \m/ \m/ SabatonandAlestorm at UEA, or you could catch UK hip hop heroes Dead Players at the Arts Centre.
