Winter is now in full swing and people are heading out to the mountains of Europe and beyond to make the most of the snow. We thought we would catch up with Chris from Snowfit to see what’s hot and what’s not on the slopes this season.

So we hear that it has been a late start to the season. Is there enough snow? Yeah, if you are asking what’s hot this winter then I would have said Te Alps a few weeks ago. It’s been a very warm and late start to the season, and people who went away over Christmas didn’t get too much snow. It’s been dumping ever since and conditions are looking great. What’s rad fashion-wise on the slopes this season? For snowboarders there is a definite return to more muted colours. Camo is still popular; jackets are getting a little longer and pants a little tighter. What’s with the crazy shaped snowboards we’ve seen? It seems that the designers have been given a free rein! Tere are some cool shapes like the K2 Cool Bean or Balaleon Camel Toe. Both of these are shorter and wider than normal so you get loads of float but still have great agility. Or if you are feeling creative you can get the YES Clark board, which you cut into your very own shape!

Tat sounds wicked! A true custom board. But once we have shaped our board where should we go head to if we want a great holiday this winter? Depends what your motives are! Austria always has great après-ski, resorts like Saalbach and Mayrhofen are always good fun. Te Snowbombing music festival is held in Mayrhofen every year and that’s normally a good crack. If you want some quiet, resorts like Les Contamines or Vallandry are always good and have good snow resorts; there is seldom a lift queue. Sauze d’Oulx in Italy is another great resort, and not expensive either. If we cant make it to the real snow what is the dryslope like in Norwich? Obviously it’s not as good as the real thing, but it is a great place to learn, practice and improve your technique. By using the dry slope regularly you can be sure you’ll make the most of your time on the snow. We are lucky that Norwich has such a great facility on our doorstep!

Norwich based snowboard shop Snowfit & Revolutionz have teamed up with the Norfolk Snowsports Club to offer you the chance to learn to snowboard with a free course of lessons for two people. All you have to do is tell us how many differences there are between these two pictures.
