awarerx.pharmacy/), NABP Foundation™, an educational and developmental arm of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), provides this information for DATIA members and your clients. Valuable facts and statistics rest on this website so that you can
share these with your clients including, “for example, a National Institute on Drug Abuse study finding that 4 percent of high school seniors have abused OTC cough medicine, which oſten contain ingredients such as dextromethorphan (DXM).” Tere are also valuable statistics on counterfeit medications and how medication affects children and seniors. Te website has real life stories of people who abused prescription
drugs and how it affected their lives that you may want to share with your patients and clients!
Tere are details on the dangers of prescription drug abuse and
misuse as well as how to recognize those symptoms available of the website as well. Te site even allows you to search for drug disposal locations near you via its “Drug Disposal Locator Tool,” so you can safely dispose of the medication you are no longer using. AWARxE provides information on which online pharmacies
to use and which to avoid, including their names. In fact, out of 11,000+ online drug sellers reviewed by NABP, 96 percent are not recommended. Tese are due to various reasons like they have a physical address outside of the United States, they don’t require valid prescriptions, or they do not have secure websites, to name a few.
