What’s new for 2016
Although I totally believe that we should fill our homes with the colours and fabrics we love, ignoring what we are being told we should be using, it’s always interesting to know what’s on trend even if it’s not to our taste.
Fabulous fabrics
Fashion trickles into the new fabrics that I receive regularly from suppliers, and the trends for 2016 have already started filtering through.
If you read my articles regularly then you’ll know all about how digital printing has hit the interior fabrics world with a storm this last 12 months. Well 2016 is no different with oversized floral prints being particularly fashionable bringing a whole new look to traditional chintz.
Also high on the list are botanical prints of all sorts; flowers, fruit,
leaves and birds, all slightly abstract but beautifully represented in the gorgeous bright colours of the season as well as beautifully muted shades of greys and greens, taupe and blacks.
And speaking of the bold bright colours, they are certainly here to stay for a while with bright bursts of tangerine, turquoise, fuchsia pink and lime green, all mixed together in some prints and seen individually throughout daring geometric designs, meant for mixing and matching against a neutral backdrop.
