Dunkin’ Donuts coming to Villa Park After over two years, a build-

of Phil’s 76 Station, a full-ser- vice gas station run by the popu- lar, genial Phil Horwitz. After his passing, the station was operated briefly by Frank Younis. The ab- sentee owners of the parcel have diligently sought long-term les- sees for their property, which has remained vacant since Younis departed. Residents have been concerned

about the site, which formerly held gas storage tanks. Site re- mediation by the Orange County Health Care Agency commenced in 1995, with remediation that consisted of soil excavation of

790 tons in January and February 1995 and soil vapor extraction that operated until 2013. Con- oco Phillips owned the property when the spill occurred, and was responsible for the cleanup. In August the Orange County Pub- lic Health Services - Environ- mental Health Division notified the landowners of their intention to seek closure of the OCHCA case, and advised that no further remediation would be required. Construction is slated to com-

mence after the holidays, and may take up to 18 months. The Hidden Jewel is rapidly becom- ing a breakfast mecca, with Dunkin’ Donuts now slated to join morning favorites Coffee Grove, Bagel Me! and Rock- well’s Café and Bakery.
