Feng Shui Summer Tips By Kathleen Caulfield
Summer is a time of revitalization
from the winter doldrums. The natural energies of the sun with its warmth lead us to outside activities. The following Feng Shui tips will assist in making your sum- mer one of remembrance. Since vacation and travel is key to
summer here are a few things to consider: • Before vacation clear off your desk.
Rid yourself of old post-its, empty coffee cups, and any other “clutter” which may block your energies. Ensure your office plants are watered during your time away. • If vacation means time away from
home keep the energy moving in your home by leaving the radio softly playing and maintain lights on timers. This will also keep burglars away. • Ensure plants both indoors and
outdoors are watered to maintain their vitality. • Place a small statute or crystal fig-
ure of a bear in the Helpful People Bagua, (google Bagua to locate this area of your home). This protects your home with strength and against break-in. • Tie nine (or eighteen) inches of red
thread, string, yarn or ribbon to every piece of luggage used. • Download an image of the Mystic
Knot and keep this cosmic travel compan- ion to ensure safe travel. When traveling challenges are encountered take out the image run your writing hand over it three times in a clockwise direction and watch the challenge unravel. • Organize all travel documents in an
easy to retrieve fashion. • Remove luggage tags from former
trips, replace worn out luggage, and carry only the information needed for the trip. • Bring a small item from your home
and place it in a visible spot within your vacation home. When things you cherish are present focus is added to your life.
• In selecting a vacation space, con-
sider the balance of the area. Is the area pleasing to you? Does the color scheme relax you? Is the area quiet, secure, clean? Does the furniture, art and other objects in the space invoke positive feelings? Does the cooking facilities and plumbing work? Is the staff helpful? These items will increase the vacation enjoyment. For the garden … • Replace worn, unsafe outdoor furni-
ture with a purchase of good quality out- door furniture. • Enjoy outdoor barbeques but use
your stove several times a week as this ensures maintenance of financial stability. • Hang wind chimes to increase the
energy of the area. Wind chimes come in variousmaterials and choosewhat appeals to you. Utilize Feng Shui enhancements in selecting wind chimes. Bamboo tubes enhance career growth and material pros- perity, fish bring luck and abundance, but- terflies symbolize rebirth bringing happi- ness and assistance with dreams, stars symbolize prosperity, dolphins symbolize protection, harmony and assistance, tur- tles prosperity. • Consider a fountain in your garden
to increase the chi (energy) of the area. Maintain clean and free flowing water in the fountain. Consider adding koi. • Place rocks in groupings or singular
amongst the flowers as a contrast to the softness of the plants and earth. • Select flowers of varied colors and
composition as according to the garden Bagua. • Create a spot for rest and silence in
the garden, with a curved stone pathway to the spot. This area will draw in nour- ishing energy. • In Feng Shui birds are messengers
from Heaven. Purchase a bird feeder for the garden.
• Garden lights,
statutes, glass balls, and other garden accents give the garden a magical air and provide balance. • Moon gates provide good karma
and can be made from various materials. An open door moon gate invites welcome to the garden serenity. For the home… • Use fresh flowers to energize the
home, remove at the first sign of wilting. • Change bed linens to more calming
colors such as pale green, light blue and cream to assist with sleep. • Use indirect, low lighting to
decrease heat in the home. Consider bat- tery operated candles to decrease heat generation. • Move to cooler spaces in the home
to ensure a comfortable atmosphere. Have dinner on the deck or move to a cooler area.
• Enter your home through the front
door to allow chi (energy) in daily. Allow fresh air to enter and circulate through open windows. • Visualize your home to be one of
peace, love and joy during the summer months and enjoy this time of rejuvenation!
