• Leading Buckinghamshire law firm B P Collins LLP has appointed Gina Connell as its new head of marketing and business development. The move marks a return to an in-house role for the experienced marketing professional who has spent the past six years in a client adviser role at specialist legal information provider LexisNexis. Connell’s key focus will be on improving business development and client relationship management. Prior to joining LexisNexis, she was senior manager business development and client


• Spectrum Corporate Finance has appointed Iain Mckenzie as its director and head of technology, media & telecoms. Mckenzie, who has been on the Spectrum advisory board since its inception in 2012, will operate out of both the Southampton and Reading offices. Spectrum has made this appointment to establish the leading TMT advisory business in the region, with its increasingly important and active deal sector. Mckenzie joins the existing four-strong advisory directors to augment a total team of 10. He has a 30-year background in the technology sector having built and subsequently exited a number of technology companies, including Datapulse plc, Arc Solutions, Digital Techniques Inc and Mettoni. He is a qualified accountant (FCMA) and also holds an MBA from London Business School (Sloan Fellowship).

• Leading Thames Valley law firm Boyes Turner has hired Ollie Fitzpatrick to join its business support and insolvency team. Fitzpatrick specialises in acting predominately for


insolvency practitioners, but also acts for companies, directors and individuals on both personal and corporate insolvency procedures. He joins Boyes Turner from Coffin Mew. Phil Smith, head of the firm's business support and insolvency team, said: "After an award-winning year in 2014, being able to further strengthen our team with Ollie is a real bonus. It's always pleasing when we can add more depth, and he has brought with him a good range of contacts and has an excellent pedigree.”


• Fred Buxton has been appointed as an associate partner at the expanding Reading office of Haines Watts Chartered Accountants. Buxton heads the firm’s audit and accounts department in Reading, working closely with clients to ensure that

the year-end process is smooth and positive. Having developed his career within smaller firms, he excels in providing a service-centric approach where the client comes first. He has extensive knowledge of corporate reporting and of advising on general commercial matters. Buxton commented: “This is without a doubt the most exciting phase of my career so far. • Tax expert Tom Wilde (pictured) has stepped up from his role as senior associate at national law firm Shoosmiths to become a partner in the corporate team. The promotion took effect from May 1. As chair of the Thames Valley branch committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, he has earned a solid reputation in the field advising clients nationally on


tax investments. Since joining the firm in 2007 he has led on a number of complex, business- critical advisory areas such as structuring tax-efficient projects and transactions in the corporate tax sector. Wilde is joined in the promotions round by former senior associate Andrea James from the firm’s commercial team in Manchester, who has also been promoted to a partner. Seventeen staff members were also promoted to senior associate: Danielle Ingham, Fleur Turrington, Michael Briggs, Richard Marshall, Simon McArdle (all commercial); Ruth Evans (corporate); Alison Grandison and Sarah Banner (both private client); Anna Cartledge, Barbara McGreal, Helen Andrews, Helen Parrott, Paul Scott, Paul Weeks, Sophie Wilkinson; Tim Flight and Will Sanderson (all real estate).


• International legal practice Osborne Clarke has promoted five associate directors to its partnership, including Rebecca Clarke (pictured) of the Thames Valley office. This takes the total number of partners at the firm to over 200 for the first time. Clarke joined the firm as a real estate lawyer in 2007


with a focus on finance. She has a track record of working on the firm's largest, award-winning real estate deals in the region. The other four partner promotions are Simon Hancock and Tracey Wright of the Bristol office, and Kate Johnson and Mathias Loertscher of the London office. UK managing partner Ray Berg commented: "Congratulations to Becky, Simon, Kate, Mathias and Tracey. Each of them has a very strong client-led ethic which they ally with their deep sector knowledge and market insight.
