THE LOCAL ACT

Brought to you by

KILL IT KID THIS MONTH’S BAND

Chris Turpin - Vocals, Guitar Stephanie Ward - Vocals and Piano Dom Kozubik - Bass Marc Jones – Drums

WHO? Kill It Kid make blues/rock tunes. Whilst Chris was searching out old blues vinyl in Norwich as a teenager, Stephanie was doing the same in her hometown of Crawley. When the two were asked to become a makeshift band for a recording project at their uni in Bath, they quickly realised how much they had in common and decided to form a band for real. Along the way other members have come and gone, but Dom and Marc are very much signed up to the cause right now. Teir latest album, You Owe Nothing, was released last year and is available through iTunes.

WHAT? Kill It Kid may still have blues blood running through them, but this is no purist outfit. Tey might be named after a

Blind Willie McTell song, but they can pound the drums, keys and guitars as well as the next band. Steph powers her way through tracks and Chris' vocals sound like they have been physically ripped from his throat. Whilst you wait to see who will lead on the next track, it's clear it's not a competition for our attention, it's just a band with equally strong male, female songwriters, vocalists, performers. Oh, and when you think the volume can't be turned up any more, they drop the tempo and produce songs with proper good harmonies.

LIVE? Expect loud, sweaty rock, delivered in a live performance you will feel as much as hear. Signed to Sire Records, the band are currently touring Europe, taking in Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Norway, winning over fans venue by venue and country by country promoting their new album You Owe Nothing. If you're lucky you will next see them on the Introducing

stage at the Radio 1 Big Weekend. But if you missed out on the ticket rush, no problem - catch their new single Blood Stop and Run out around the same time, with the video already up on the band's website.

KILL IT KID GOSSIP? Chris and Steph have now made their home in Norwich. When not touring Chris spends his time studying his passion for old style British sub cultures like Beat poetry and banger racing. Steph comes from a musical family with a sister training to be an opera singer. Te pair have put on regular nights in Norwich under the title Jug Jaw's Beat Club at Bedford’s Crypt. Catch them up close and personal as part of the house band there of Lank Smith and the Pythons.
