ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL

11th-14th June Isle of Wight

Real music lovers who want to see legendary bands

Te Isle of Wight Festival began way way back in the 60’s, and 70’s when legends like Jimi Hendrix, Te Who and Te Doors played, and it was kinda like a British Woodstock. Te festival disappeared again until 2002 when it returned in full effect; since then massive names like Te Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Te Sex Pistols and Bruce Springsteen have all played there. Tis year is no different, with an extraordinary line up including Blur, Fleetwood Mac, Pharrell Williams, Ash, Te Charlatans, First Aid Kit, Te Prodigy and Suzanne Vega, and hundreds more. It does seem to be aimed more at a 40+ market but hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. Tere’s loads of family stuff on as well so take the whole gang along with you. Again, like Bestival, ‘tis quite a trip down there, but you’ll see musicians you’ll never be able to see with the same three days again. Well good value for money.

LATITUDE FESTIVAL

16th-19th July Henham Park, Suffolk

Perfect for: Families, culture lovers and your first ever festival

Ah Latitude, with your coloured sheep, short driving distance from Norwich and chilled atmosphere. Let’s have a nice-to- see-you-again-hug. Tis is its’ 10th anniversary, and for those of you who have been every year, we offer you a special rosette and a well done. It’s a gentle and friendly festival, if you’ve never been, with as much live art, comedy, poetry, dance, cabaret, film, kids activities and talks as live music. It’s well rounded and it’s cutting edge, with loads of new and upcoming bands on the bill as always this year alongside well- established bigger names. Check out King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (best band name ever), Gengahr and Wolf Alice for something fresh. Oldies but goodies include Laura Marling, Turston Moore, Noel Gallagher, the Manics and Femi Kuti. I predict, however, that Portishead on the Saturday night will be the one to remember. Tere’s always a special last minute Sunday afternoon guest too. See you there Norwich!
