Maidstone Borough Council 3 is working fine!

We’re enlisting the help of residents to catch irresponsible dog owners across the borough. If people don’t pick up after their dogs, it’s unpleasant for everyone else using those streets and parks, which is why our dog enforcement officers can issue fines of up to £1,000 to those responsible – but we need information from residents so that we can catch the culprits.

Residents can use an online map at www.maidstone.gov.uk/report to pinpoint where there is a problem with dog fouling. This will identify hot spots and allow council officers to increase patrols and start a “Dog Watch” area. This raises the profile of the problem in the neighbourhood, encouraging residents to come forward with information about potential offenders, and making sure that irresponsible dog owners know there are consequences for their actions.

Irresponsible dog owners are a small group amongst many responsible ones and the more we work with the community, the easier it becomes to catch those responsible. If you have any information you’d like to report to us confidentially, please call 01622 602202.

RK9 SUCCESS! RK9 on Facebook

Responsible dog owners are the driving force behind a new Facebook page. “RK9 – Responsible Canine Ownership” is a celebration of all the responsible dog owners, clubs and training schools we have in Maidstone. Information, details of events and the current legislation are among the things you will see on the page as it grows. Just search “RK9 Maidstone”.

Three dog owners in one month were issued with fines for not picking up after their dogs, thanks to information provided by residents. Our Environmental Enforcement officers used information about problem areas, locations and times, to make sure that they were in the right place at the right time. Look out for signs on the streets to see where people have been caught. Thank you for your help – and keep reporting information to us!
