West Peckham


Memorial bench James Listerwas a much loved and sorely missed member of the parish and a lengthy discussionwas undertaken regarding a separate commemorative bench. Prior to the meeting, consultation had taken place with West Peckham Parochial Church Council whichwas not keen on the idea of another bench and the council agreed unanimously to decline the request. Itwas felt that the circular Jubilee Memorial benchwas installed for this purpose with plaques to be added as requested. Itwas felt it might set a precedent if a separate benchwas allowed. The council said it wouldwarmly welcome other ideas. Damage An Asda vehicle used the village green to turn round after making a


delivery and became stuck in the mud. Asda apologised for the damage caused by the van and agreed to notify its drivers that this must not happen again. Crime report Motorcyclists had been spoed riding off-road in Mereworth Woods and concernswere raised about the safety ofwalkers, riders and cyclists. PCSO Toni Mahews would see if police motorcyclists would patrol the area. Roads Some of the road signs within the villagewere very dirty and at odd angles. A working party would look at this issue. Markings at the white traffic calming gates were now very faint and this would be reported to Kent Highway Services. The drain cover at the village hall had been repaired. Churchwall Possible funding might be available from KCC. The paperwork would be passed to the parochial church council to progress this maer directly. Archive Itwas agreed that the village history and archiving project should no longer be led by the parish council, who would offer help and support. Welcome pack Packs needed to be delivered to the new properties at Trevalia Farm and also to Clogheen, Forge Lane. Firework display Thiswas a huge success and thankswere given to all those involved, particularly Robin Evans. There was a slight shortfall of £88.70 which would be paid by the parish council. Christmas tree Thankswere given to Ron Wright and Mark Yearsley for installing the tree. The council may buy new lights for the tree as the old ones had been damaged by being used for other events. Diamond Jubilee bench Cllr Freed would obtain and reinstate the plaque in memory of Colin Cables. Budget The parish precept for 2015/16 was set at £2,998, an increase of 0.37%.
