Suspended head teacher leaves primary school

THE head of St Katherine's Pri- mary School in Snodland, Sharon Alexander, whowas suspended in May 2013, has left the school “to concentrate on her family”. Chairman of the school gover-

nors, John Edgar, said: "Following a long absence from St Katherine's Mrs Sharon Alexander, left the school with effect from December 31 to concentrate on her family. “The governors would like to thank her for her focus on raising

the standards of teaching and learn- ing throughout the school which led to an improvement in the practical understanding of how children learn and demonstrated ways in which classroom practice could be made more effective." Mrs Alexander was previously

head of Applegarth Nursery and In- fant School, Croydon and suc- ceeded Allan Adams, head of the school for 25 years, in April 2012. Anumber of members of staff left

shortly after her arrival. An Ofsted inspection in March

2013 judged the school to be good in all categories including teaching, achievement, behaviour and man- agement. A spokesperson for Kent County Council said the school continued to be led by acting headteacher, Gerald Cadwallader, and associate head- teacher, Barbara Scott. The council was advertising for a replacement for Mrs Alexander.
