s Bill talks about in more detail, the time has flown by with us kicking off 2015 as if heading out of a set of starting blocks! It’s so rewarding to see all 12 of us trying new
things, as well as enhancing our day-to-day roles to reach the ‘RAF Family’ through many channels.
To share a smile, Alison and I had an adventurous day heading out to the RAF Halton Graduation Day, early February. With a long snowy journey there, followed by an accident-led five hour sit on the M1 on the way home – all made for a long day. The latter experience also required a very big need to NOT use the makeshift communal loo! Meeting the families however, gave its usual motivational lift and made the day

initially became involved with Envoy when I wrote an article for an issue last year – a process I thoroughly enjoyed. Imagine
how pleased I was to be invited to contribute further to the magazine!
Having grown up with a parent in the RAF, and later having attended an MOD-funded boarding school, I have had first-hand experience of the
totally worthwhile. We all continue to feel privileged to be part of such a special day.
So, what’s in store for this issue of Envoy? From the Federation, Stan covers more housing news as well as an article for our more recent addition to the family – RAF Reserves. We’ve also got Ruth Shackleton, the former RAF Red Arrows Team Manager sharing a reflective look back on her career in the RAF and the friends met along the way. What a woman!

To assist with the Families Federation magazine, aimed at providing advice, inspiration and information to families just like mine, has therefore been a wonderful opportunity. I am incredibly grateful to Caroline for inviting me on board, and I hope you enjoy reading this latest issue of Envoy as much as I loved working on it!
