Meet Jane Madigan of JM Accountancy Services...

he perception of accountants is generally rather downbeat “someone who solves a problem you didn’t know you had, in a way you don’t understand” but Jane madigan the proprietor of Jm accountancy services is keen to dispel this view – ‘ a good accountant should not only be able to tell you how your business is performing but also why. Business owners have to wear many hats and understandably wading through pages of figures can sometimes come way down the list of priorities when there are more pressing day to day tasks that are demanding attention. I see my role as providing accurate and timely financial information in as jargon-free and meaningful a way as possible, allowing business owners to run their businesses more effectively.’ During her 30 year career as an accountant, Jane has worked with a wide variety of clients, from a

T

global plc to local restaurants and holiday letting businesses. ‘When I started out back in the early eighties most accounting systems were manual and therefore time-consuming to maintain. Thankfully these days, with the advances in technology, not only is recording of transactions much quicker and easier but so is the extraction of meaningful and useful financial information which

accounts on a monthly basis are vital to ensure that any problems are confronted and resolved before they can cause damage.

is essential to the efficient running of a business in today’s challenging markets’. Jane says, ‘not only does the

information need to be accurate but it also needs to be timely – it’s not much good to a business to be told in December that they made a loss in august. Therefore, management

accountancy services will produce management accounts and reports by no later than the second week after the month end. We also provide a comprehensive book- keeping service if needed.’ Jane and her husband michael are currently re-locating to the Dartmouth area from Wales. ‘We’ve had a house in Dartmouth for about 8 years, during which time we’ve made many good friends. We especially love sailing and it will be good to be near our boat so we can take advantage

of any good sailing weather as it happens. We also love the fact that Dartmouth has such a vibrant and caring community – no wonder so many people choose to retire here, it’s a little piece of heaven on earth!’ contact Jane on 07949 784016 or email janemadigan@fsmail.net
