THE BEST LIVE MUSIC FOR THE MONTH AHEAD

OK folks, here's what I can offer you for January; there ain't much but there's some, like, real good stuff...

On the 9th,Te Grazing Saints are launching their album at Open. I like, really like this band, they're swell. Tey also have special guests Dr Clyde, Little Red Kings and Jessie Q & Te Earthquakes.

Tere's an Acoustic Night on the 11that the UEA for which the UEA Dance Squad presents other people singing and playing instruments and that. I don't know if they will dance. I would expect some deep shoulder action but I just don't know, it's probably best to ask them, I don't have the answer.

Fresh new kids (promoters) in town, Totally Insane, have got themselves a cracking line up for their second ever instalment at Te Owl Sanctuary on the 17th.Nai Harvesthead up the bill; they're pretty hyped and described as a “Two piece from Sheffield that like to keep it heartfelt and fuzzy”. Normally I hate stupid band descriptions like

this, but I like this one and I just don't give a shit what you think. Also playing are Playloungefrom London and the Super Claws from Norwich. I'm gonna be there, eating a large packet of crisps at the front.

On the 19thPony Up is back for the New Year and it's a double headliner. Te frickin awesome Hannah Lou Clarkreturns, she's causing quite a stir and 6music and the NME love her so, you know, join in. JUST TRUST. Te other scrumptious headliners are Gaps from Brighton way. Maya Jane Coles LURVES them and has collaborated with them and let me tell you, that is a BIG DEAL. Anyways, it's £3 so there you go. I'll be there, asking the band really loudly whilst they're playing which brand of guitar string they use, down at the front.

On the 25th there's the divine First Aid Kit kicking up some soul

shaking harmonies at the UEA. Imma be there, wearing a very large hat and standing at the front.

If you don't want to go to that show then you could kick it at NAC where Tese Ghosts (Norwich boys originally) return to celebrate the release of their latest album. Tey play sort of electro-rock, but in a good way. Excellent singer they got too.

On Friday 30thNAC has a show in celebration of Independent Venue week and that's headlined by Lauren Laverne’s darlings Wooden Arms. It's

gonna be killer. Support comes from Tom Adamsand Harry Edwards. Wooden Arms are properly going places as well you know, no lies. I’ll be there, down the front clapping with cymbals attached to each hand.

And so and so and so. February will bring more, but seeing as January is a bit sparse maybe you could get off your backside and see a local show or so. Tere’s some cheap ones there too, fella.
